We help machines to talk

One RF Technology is focussed on helping companies to trasmit inportant data by developing RF solutions for M2M applications. M2M, machine-to-machine, or telemetry, is the automatic or programmed transfer of data between two machines across a wireless network that facilitates remote monitoring and controlling.

Machine-to-machine communication can be used to simplify everyday business activities such as keeping track of fleets or enabling office vending machines to alert an engineer when the stock needs replenishing. Machines such as fire alarms, parking meters, vehicles and vending units can communicate with a central computer, returning data that can be used in a number of ways such as in usage monitoring and temperature control. Simply fitting a modem to machines enables data to be sent to each machine, between machines, or to individuals. Businesses can analyse buying patterns and personal preferences though the analysis of real time stock control. This business data can then be used to identify trends that can help develop targeted loyalty programmes and improve marketing communications.

Machine-to-machine is a growth market. A recent study from Frost and Sullivan suggest that more than 13 billion devices across Europe have the potential to communicate. A wide range of vertical market sectors such as transport, vending, utilities, home security, and commercial equipment (photocopiers and franking machines) are being seen as driving uptake.

Applications by scale / range

The applications for RF solutions can be roughly divided into three categories according to range:

  1. Local - short range
  2. Building or site scale - medium range
  3. Urban or Landscape - long range

Vertical markets

RF solutions can be used in a number of telemetry applications, where the use of traditional wiring is either difficult or even impossible. One RF Technology provides easy-to-install and reliable RF solutions for a variety of applications within:
